Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to share our love of craft beer and make an impact in Charlottesville, Virginia. At the heart of this goal is our casual, family-friendly taproom—a place where we invite our neighbors to find new beers they love and connect over shared experiences.

Our Story
Like many founding stories, Random Row started in a basement. Kevin McElroy began his craft beer journey as a homebrewer concocting recipes in his basement. Kevin honed his skills while working full-time at the UVA hospital. It wasn't until Kevin's Imperial Stout was second place overall at the Virginia Homebrew Cup that he realized his hobby could become his career.
After presenting a business plan and six homebrewed beers to a group of local investors (also in a basement), Random Row Brewing Company was officially born. Our Preston Avenue brewery and taproom opened to the public in September 2016.

Random Row has become known for it's fresh, small-batch, enjoyable beer and it's inviting, family-friendly taproom which hosts a regular schedule of events connecting neighbors and businesses.

We've Won Some Awards
Our popular Mosaic Pale Ale has won a 2020 Great American Beer Festival bronze medal in the hazy/juicy Pale Ale category, a gold medal in the American Pale Ale category at the 2019 Virginia Craft Beer Cup, and an honorable mention in the American Pale Ale category at the 2020 Virginia Craft Beer Cup.
At the 2020 Virginia Craft Beer Cup, we took home a silver medal for our Scouser Red Ale and an honorable mention for our Windswell DIPA.
At the 2018 Virginia Craft Beer Cup, we took home a silver medal for our Not Yours Maibock.
